Mother's Day Recap

On Mother's Day we went to the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Here we are at Arturo's Nest (the baby playroom) at the DMA. Lena had a blast tossing the eggs around and rolling around in the nest. I can't wait until she's older and will want to do the art activities.

After the DMA, we went across the street to the Nasher Sculpture Center. Here she is walking around in the sculpture garden near the Richard Serra.

Inside, the new exhibition was by Ernesto Neto. "Cuddle on the Tightrope" is a crocheted rope installation that kids can walk through, but our little one was too small for it (ages 2+). I love the bright colors. While at the Nasher, we revisited the exhibition by our friend Erick Swenson -- sorry, no photos, but you can check the Nasher's website for more information. This was our second time to see his show.

Yellow Rose of Texas

Here are the last photos of the shoot. They are almost identical to the gray headband shots from earlier. In the second photo Lena is holding the gray Easter bunny that I knit for her. All of the photos in this series are by the wonderful Yony of YLK Photography. If you're in DFW I highly recommend her! These were product shots that doubled as baby photos in case you're wondering why Lena isn't always looking at the camera. All of the items are now listed at my Etsy shop.

Woodland Babe

More photos from Yony's shoot. Here's Lena looking like a hipster with her Woodland Babe Leafy headband. I made an adult version of this item with just two leaves and a button and finally tapped into the elusive hipster 20-something market. Is it surprising that I finally reach that demographic with an item that has absolutely no crochet? Anyway, Lena is rocking it.

Rosy Lass in Flowers

My friend Yony shot these for me back in April. She just sent me a whole stack of files, so I'll spread them out in different posts. Here is Lena looking adorable in her rosy headband with matching dress (from Gigi!). At the time the dress was actually too big, but since then little one has had a tremendous growth spurt. I bet it would fit perfect now.

Lena's Drawing

Lena has been practicing with her crayons and learning how to draw. She likes to swish back and forth with the crayon and then take them all out of the canister dropping them down on the page making those little pock marks. When she takes out the crayons, she is very careful to keep them on the page, as if just laying them there is part of the drawing. We tried markers for a moment - great drawing, but immediately she had green on her hand, knee, ankle. Not bad for 14 months!

Green on Green, Houston photos

Back in April, when we went to Houston to see Todd's family we staged a little photo shoot for Lena in her new green and blue dresses. Things didn't start out very well with the green dress as you can see with the photo above! I'll post the blue dress photos later. Once she warmed up, Lena had a great time playing on the lush green grass, sitting in the rocking chair, and admiring flowers.

Back to the Zoo

Back in April, on the 5th, Lena and I met with Misty and Sydney and went to the Dallas Zoo. We saw the new koalas and took the train ride. We had a great time. It wasn't too hot and the girls seemed really interested. We were pooped by the end of the day.

A Spring Day in Yarn

Todd brought Lena to visit me at the Etsy Dallas Spring Bash on May 5, 2012. I had coordinated with the Dallas Yarn Bombers to decorate our photo booth. Here's Lena in the red wagon that they yarn bombed with her yarn "feather boa". She was too little to ride on the yarn bombed bicycle, but the wagon was perfect! What a fun day.
