Hanging Tough (tiny tough)

Here's Lena in her tiny tank top looking tough while we watch the storm clouds roll by. No rain for us this afternoon. She's sporting the latest in baby lounge wear: a white tank and pink leggings.

She seems pretty happy about it. Today we braved another doctor's appointment, this time for me, and a bath already, for her.

Pretty Baby

Back in January, while I was waiting for Lena and done with school and the holidays I started crocheting things for her. The full sleeper was the biggest project. I based the pattern off of a 3 mo. Carter's sleeper, but customized it for crochet (more here on the technical stuff). I was thrilled to pop it on to Lena this week and see that it actually fit. I don't expect anything more than to have a few pictures of her in it. It's much too warm for anything this cozy this time of year. Todd retouched the top two photos to make up for my small backdrop and to color correct.

Tummy Time

Lena is starting to enjoy her tummy time more. Thanks to Lucas and Ethan for lending their awesome playmat! She is also starting to sleep longer at night and sleeping in her own bed more. Such a big girl.
* Bonus picture! Aunt Amy, Todd's sister, just sent this awesome mirror for tummy time as an Easter present. It's a hit!

Happy Faces

Baby in a Bucket

Lena had her first tub bath today. She loved it! She seemed very happy and it was easy. She can hold her head up really well.

Sitting Pretty

Lena is growing up so fast! We went to the doctor today for her one month check-up. She is now 11 lbs. 8 oz. and 23 1/2 inches long. She is in the 95th+ percentile for height and weight. She's a tall girl. Today was no fun since we had to go to the doctor, but it was a good week. She's sleeping longer at night, napping in her crib during the day more, and having more alert time. She makes the funniest faces.
We'll be going out more now that she's a month old. Here she is bundled up to go to the doctor. It was strangely cold today and extremely windy. Yesterday I was worried that she was too warm on our walk around the neighborhood and today I was concerned that she was too cold. Happily, she stayed toasty.

@ Four Weeks

Sunday marked the end of Lena's fourth week. Some friends dropped by that day, see the pictures below. She was alert and didn't cry too much. This Wednesday, April 13, will be one month from her birth, March 13.

She is sleeping better at night and taking naps in the big crib during the day. We finally set up the baby monitor. It's very fancy: color video screen, night vision, and sound.

She is growing every day! The 0-3 onesies are snug now. I'm pretty sure she's at least 10 lbs. but she still seems so small to me. She's smiling more and will take a pacifier sometimes. She makes the goofiest smiley faces and will try to imitate your facial expression -- something that is nearly impossible to capture in a photo!

Baby Faces

Dave Jenike/Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
This picture of a baby giraffe from yesterday's news reminds me of Lena! The giraffe has such a goofy awkward baby face with the swollen big eyes, ears askew and crooked little hair nubs. Not that I think Lena looks like a giraffe (!) but that maybe all babies share a cute aesthetic that includes these adorable features. Maybe it's just their shared expressions!

Little Bird

Todd bought a larger version of her yellow "little bird" onesie so she could wear it again after outgrowing the original one that she wore home from the hospital. Here are some pictures of her Lena outside right before we took a walk with Bradley to the library and back, in the Pack and Play in our room, Lena crushing Todd, and finally me holding Lena.

Tiny Cupcake

In case you haven't gotten enough of Lena today, here are some new pictures. The cold snap we had this last week gave us an excuse to wear the Newborn footed pjs. They just barely still fit! Here she is in her blue and brown cupcake outfit.
We've been trying out the Moby wrap more during the day for going on walks and doing things around the house. Here, I'm working on the computer while Lena sleeps.
I need to take some updated photos of her room. Here you can see I've put up her cards on the wall and installed a mobile over her crib. Below, you can see tiny fingers to go with the tiny toes from the last post. Every morning she seems bigger to me than the day before.
